The butterfly project

Adam got some baby caterpillars and a butterfly cage for his birthday. It was the coolest thing to watch these little guys transform.

He got five caterpillars
After about 10 days, they formed their crysalis. One had already emerged.

Here is a top view of the cage.

It has been so cold, we didn't want to put them out... but decided they better get out and fly before their short three week life was over. Aren't they beautiful!

Next time, we are going to get some praying mantis eggs from this cool website. Science is so fun :)

Brooke,
My niece did this in her class this year..she also lives in Davis county. Weird. But she came home to report that one of the boys in her class ate his butterfly! After watching it all week, someone dared him to eat it and he did. She was so upset.
I hope that doesn't happen at your house.
